What are the study methods used in Ireland?
The study methods used in Ireland are similar to those used in the United Kingdom. You may discover that you have more autonomy in your work than you are accustomed to. This may appear appealing at first, but high performance and productivity is expected. You will quickly learn that you must work hard to keep up with your curriculum.
What you should know before beginning your studies in Ireland:

You will be expected to work alone on a regular basis, and you may not receive as much assistance if you did in your native country. You are encouraged to speak up and express your thoughts in class. Critical thinking is encouraged, which includes independent reading and research as well as assigned coursework. 

As part of your studies, you may want to attend tutorials. These are teaching groups guided by a professor in which students discuss study topics in small groups. The academic staff is committed to your success and is accessible to assist and advise you.

What are Ireland's higher education institutions?

University

What types of degrees am I eligible to pursue?

Undergraduate
A bachelor’s degree in a general field of study can be obtained in three to four years of full-time study. It takes about five years in professions like architecture, veterinary science, and dentistry. You may get a bachelor’s degree as a General Degree, Honours Degree, or BA depending on your study programme (Special Degree).
Postgraduate

Some students get postgraduate degrees, such as a postgraduate diploma, master’s degree, or a PhD.

Teaching or research-based programmes are both possible. This form of research is more focused and takes a more specialised approach to the subject than undergraduate research.

Postgraduate diplomas are frequently vocationally focused and tied to certain occupations.

Master’s degrees normally last one to two years and include coursework as well as a thesis.

PhD programmes typically last three years to complete.

The cost of living in Ireland for a student for one academic year is projected to be between €7,000 and €12,000 a year. Rent, energy, food, books, laundry, and medicine are included, as are travel passes and social expenditures, but education fees are not included.

Your living costs will, of course, vary depending on the study location, type of housing, and lifestyle you pick.

Undergraduate degrees range in price from €9,000 to €45,000 per year. Master’s and PhD programs cost between €9,150 and €37,000 per year. What to Know About Student Visas in Ireland
A student visa may be required if you plan to study in Ireland. Check the INIS (Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service) website for your country’s requirements, and if you require a visa, ask your studentbridge.co counselor for assistance with the visa application procedure.
When is the best time to submit an application?
You should apply for your Irish study visa as soon as possible, as the application procedure might take up to eight weeks. You can apply up to three months before your arrival.
What should I include in my visa application?

The required documentation, a passport photograph, and the right fee for the appropriate visa type must be submitted to the designated authorities. It’s also possible that you’ll be asked for biometric data.

We strongly advise you to have your counselor walk you through the process so that everything is completed correctly.  You risk having your student visa denied if the documentation isn’t up to par so it is best to contact your counselor in a timely manner to ensure you are organized and prepared for your journey.

Is my family and/or spouse eligible for a visa?
International students from outside the European Union are not permitted to bring their families to Ireland to study. International students’ spouses and children must apply individually to live in Ireland.
What happens if I am denied a visa?
The college will return your money minus a small application fee if your visa application is denied.

  • A recent passport-sized photo
  • A passport that is valid for 12 months
  • A signed letter of application which explains why you require the visa
  •  A Letter of Acceptance from the Irish university, college or school, confirming you have been accepted and enrolled on a course of full-time education
  •  Evidence that you have paid your tuition fees in full or, if they are more than €6,000, you must pay at least this amount to satisfy visa requirements
  • Evidence that you have taken out private health insurance that meets the requirements of your visa
  • Evidence of English language proficiency. Most Irish universities and colleges require IELTS of 6.5
  • Evidence that you or your sponsor has sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees and cost of living expenses
  • Evidence of your scholarship, if you have been granted one

You may require additional documentation if you’re applying from China, India, Nigeria, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, or the United Kingdom.

Is it possible for me to secure a position as an intern?
An internship or work placement is part of almost every Irish study program. This portion of the program cannot exceed 50% of the total program duration. In a four-year degree, for example, job placement is limited to two years. Work placements must be a mandatory component of the educational program.
Will I be able to work when I finish my studies?

Possibly. The Irish Government’s Third Level Graduate Scheme allows graduates of Irish higher education institutions to stay in Ireland for a year and look for work. Postgraduate students can extend their time to two years.

Non-EU third-level graduates who are legally residing in Ireland can apply for a Green Card Permit, which allows them to stay in the country permanently. This gives you the opportunity to work for a particular employer in a field where there is a skills shortage.
